Ruth First Scholar Seminar at St Aidan’s College, Durham

Scholastic Mpofu on ‘Developments in sustainable water and sanitation management in Zimbabwe’ and Ruaa Osman (Hatfield Lioness Scholar) on ‘Patient-centred approach in humanitarian medicine’.

Sponsored walk: a 10-mile loop south of Durham City to raise funds for the Ruth First Scholarship. Walkers: Sicelo Ngwenya (2022-23 Scholar), Pearson Nkhoma (2011-12 Scholar), Sarah Banks, Mike Thompson, Liz Lindsey, Nikki Rutter and Patrick Dorey, with back-up from Helen Charnley. We raised over £4000.

Soweto Gospel Choir concert in Durham Cathedral in memory of Ruth First (including a tribute by her daughter Gillian Slovo), attended by about 800 people.
